The Ngee Ann Polytechnic SEA Trip, organized by Launch JDI, successfully concluded its five-day agenda from 18 to 22 March 2024.
The program serves as a unique initiative to facilitate connections between senior faculty members from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and 12 companies based in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City. Through these meetings, participants gain profound insights into current industry trends, local culture, and collaboration opportunities within the innovative ecosystems.
About Launch JDI’s SEA Trip
Launch JDI’s SEA Trip is a special overseas program by Launch JDI for senior faculty members from educational institutions. By blending professional engagements with cultural immersion activities, our objective is to enrich faculty perspectives across disciplines while fostering enhanced collaboration and knowledge-sharing among departments.
Ultimately, we aim to empower faculty members to seamlessly integrate these immersive experiences into cross-disciplinary classroom settings, thereby enriching the learning environment for their students.

Day 1
The trip began with two days in Bangkok, starting with a visit guided by Launch JDI to the National Innovation Agency (NIA), where we were able to learn about their business model, operational strategies, and an overview of Thailand’s industry landscape. Additionally, we were given a tour of NIA’s working space, exploring their workplace culture.

Day 2
The morning of Day 2 featured a trip to Beacon VC where we were treated to an office tour and learned about the company and its subsidiaries, including KX, and KBank. During the visit, Ngee Ann Polytechnic also had a fruitful meeting to explore potential collaboration opportunities with Beacon VC and its ecosystem.

Following the visit to Beacon, we were present at PTT Expresso for a comprehensive company tour and a fruitful meeting with PTT Expresso’s leadership to explore their innovation strategies and sustainable growth, and to discuss the possibility of collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

In the afternoon, we continued our agenda at Lineman Wongnai, one of the leading e-commerce platforms for services in Thailand. Here, we had the privilege of meeting their leadership team to learn more about the company’s vision and explore potential avenues for collaboration.
After the sharing session, Lineman Wongnai also guided us through their workspace, providing a better understanding of their work culture and laying the foundation for future cooperation.

Day 3
Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s senior faculty members traveled with the Launch JDI team to Ho Chi Minh City to visit Mapletree Vietnam, a global real estate development, investment, capital, and property management company.
Right from the start, we were warmly greeted and treated to an engaging office tour of their facilities, while listening to their sharing on the company’s business model and operations.
Ngee Ann Polytechnic also had the opportunity to learn about Mapletree Vietnam’s key innovation strategies and explore potential areas for collaboration.

Day 4
On the fourth day of the SEA Trip, we started the agenda with a tour at VSIP Binh Duong, the first Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park.
The highlight of this visit was the immersive factory tour at Yakult, where Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s senior faculty members were able to gain great insights into Yakult’s operation process and their business strategies for sustainable growth.

We were also able to visit the VSIP office and gain firsthand knowledge of the Vietnamese industry landscape.

Day 4 of our trip culminated with a visit to CMC Global for in-depth discussions on the corporation’s strategic approaches and the potential for future partnerships with Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Day 5
On the final day of our SEA Trip, the Launch JDI team took Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s senior faculty members to visit VNG Digital Business to explore the company’s operational strategies and potential collaboration opportunities. We also had the opportunity to join an office tour of VNG Digital Business’s facilities and learn more about their workspace.

In the afternoon, we visited Frasers Property Vietnam, where Ngee Ann Polytechnic engaged with their leadership team to gain valuable insights. Following the discussion, Frasers Property Vietnam representatives took us on a tour of their office, providing us with a firsthand experience of how they drive innovative projects forward.
This also marks the end of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic SEA Trip after five days of productive meetings with leading companies across Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

Conclusion
Through this trip, Launch JDI has supported Ngee Ann Polytechnic in fostering a deep dive into the Southeast Asian market and cultural landscapes, catalyzing the creation of robust connections and innovative collaborations between the school and key industry players in Vietnam and Thailand.
Looking ahead, Launch JDI is eager to expand our initiatives, providing Singaporean faculty members with enhanced opportunities to seamlessly incorporate practical experience into cross-disciplinary educational environments.
